THE SCOOP ON Jenna?
Jenna's full time gig as a a Certified Spinning Instructor and Nutritional Guide keeps her running all over Philly, but she wouldn't have it any other way! Fitness and food always interested Jenna, but it wasn't until she got a part-time job as a front desk associate at a local spin studio that she realized they were both her true calling. Over the last few years she's worked hard to immerse herself in the Philadelphia fitness community, study nutrition and create a platform where she could help other's with the knowledge she has gained along the way. @the_philasophy
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS/PASSION PROJECT?
The Philasophy is my passion project and something I've been working on for the last year or so. When I first decided to turn my passion of fitness and nutrition into my full time job, I knew how important it would be to have a platform to connect with other's in the industry, as well as with those that wanted to learn more about fitness, food, and overall wellness. I'm currently working with a web designer who will help me launch my full website by the Spring. That way I will have my own space to list my services as well as blog consistently.
NAME 3 POSITIVE THINGS YOU DO EACH DAY AND WHY?
The first thing I do in the morning is have a warm glass of water of lemon. When I first started taking my own nutrition seriously I wanted to introduce small changes slowly, that way I wouldn't get overwhelmed. This was something easy and manageable and I knew I could keep up with it. I also did see an improvement in my digestion and how I feel for the rest of the day. Secondly, I aim to move my body in some way almost every day. Whether I'm teaching a spin class (or taking one), lifting weights in the gym, taking a hot yoga class, or getting outside for a 10 minute walk, it doesn't matter just as long as I move. For me, exercise has become habitual and therapeutic-it's helped me deal with some of my worst moments as well as my best and I couldn't imagine my life without sweat in it. Thirdly, I try and not compare myself to others. I saw a quote that read "comparison is the thief of happiness" and it has stuck with me. Someone is always going to be stronger, better, and faster than you-but no one will ever be you and that's special. No matter what I stay focused on myself and what I have and try to block all of the other stuff that can bring me down out.
YOU ARE A NEW ADDITION TO THE CRAYON BOX. WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?
Mustard-It's punchy, bright and spicy like me.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO LIVE A MORE POSITIVE LIFE?
My work and the riders that come to my classes every week. Even if I'm having a bad day, I know there's a room full of people waiting for me to show up and show out. I might be the best part of someone's crappy day so I always keep that in mind.
WHAT DO YOU WORK TOWARD IN YOUR FREE TIME? AT WORK?
In my free time I'm always experimenting with new recipes! Cooking is very calming for me and something I genuinely enjoy. At work I'm always working on bringing new and elevated experiences to my store. My current position as the Community Coordinator for Athleta has pushed me out of my comfort zone which I love! I'm connecting with so many people as well as working to expand our community events at the store. It's not easy by any means but I appreciate the challenges that have been coming my way.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT POSITIVE QUOTE OR MANTRA?
"Worry about loving yourself, instead of other people loving you"
CAN YOU SHARE AN EXPERIENCE YOU'VE HAD WHERE YOU OBSERVED POSITIVE THINKING PROFOUNDLY IMPACTING YOUR LIFE?
I was fired from the same front desk position that catapulted me into this lifestyle in the first place. If it wasn't for the power of positive thinking and turning that terrible situation into a positive one, I wouldn't be where I am today.
WHY ARE YOU EXCITED TO BE A TPC AMBASSADOR?
I couldn't be more excited! This organization and the message behind it completely aligns with my own life and how I want to continue to live it. The impact it has made and will continue to make is only going to get bigger and I am looking forward to being apart of that.
