DR. RUBINA TAHIR
Sitting alone at recess was scary, sad, frustrating, and overwhelming. In grade school, it wasn't uncommon for me to be the target of bullying, but working through the emotions that came with this experience gave me a sense of empowerment.
In my adult life, I realized that these same emotions continued, but for different reasons—work, life, and love. This inspired my career in healthcare and after years of practice I knew I needed to encourage more positivity between appointments if I wanted my patients to sustain successful habits. Health education goes beyond the typical office setting, so I started sharing my message through events, workshops, podcasts, writing, and speaking engagements. I want to guide others towards healthy habits—I found my purpose.
Through over 70 media segments as host and producer with My New Philly for Comcast, I have found and joined other women on their journey to wellness. When we walk together the magic happens.
Health hits close to home: My mother is a breast cancer survivor and as scary as this was, it only intensified my views of self-therapy with one goal: to be able to heal with resilience and a positive mental attitude. My mission now is to educate about natural pain remedies as an alternative to opioids; to curtail the opioid epidemic.
Outside of my work and wellness efforts, I live for family time with my husband and little girl, Viyana Laila Ahmad. I’m a coffee lover, Instagrammer, 5K runner, and all-around wellness junkie majorly inspired by all the alpha women that have paved the way before me. My community and mentors motivate me to be confident, using my voice to make a positive impact in the world.
The Positivity Charge helps me do all of the above.
